WhatsApp is revamping its mobile apps for a more modern and simplified appearance, as well as offering a new "darker dark mode," the firm revealed on Thursday. The messaging app claims that over the years, it has mostly concentrated on providing utility to the app, and that as the product grows, its design must develop as well.

The messaging app is adopting a new color pallet after considering over 35 different colors. WhatsApp employed deeper tones to alleviate eye strain in low-light environments. The app's dark mode, which is popular among many users, has been made one shade darker to make messages easier to see.

WhatsApp is bringing a native bottom navigation bar to Android to help users locate what they're looking for quickly. The new navigation bar, which has been available on iOS for quite some time, allows you to rapidly access your chats, updates, communities, and calls.

For iOS users, WhatsApp is making it easier to transmit photos and videos with a new attachment structure. Instead of a full-screen menu, users will now see an expanded tray that makes it easier to see the options when transmitting media, polls, documents, and other items.

WhatsApp is also changing its icons to a rounded, outlined design. Additionally, the app keeps refreshing the default background in chats.
